District Level Dialogue/ Advocacy Meeting

 

Today, on 14-06-2025, an advocacy dialogue meeting on human rights was held at the District Social Services Office organized by the non-governmental organization “NICE Foundation” in Khulna. The meeting was chaired by the Secretary of the Human Rights Protection Committee, Gaurang Nandi. Md. Rafiqul Islam, Assistant Secretary, Health Services Division, Ministry of Health, was present as the chief guest. Md. Mamun Akhtar, Assistant Director, Bangladesh Betar, Khulna was also present. Md. Tipu Sultan, Coordinator, Adv. Nahid Shams, Manabadhikar Shongskriti Foundation, Dhaka. Mr. M. Mujibur Rahman, Secretary of the Human Rights Protection Committee of Khulna District and “NICE Foundation”, delivered the welcome speech at the meeting. Coordinator Rabeya Sultana presented a comprehensive report on the overall human rights situation in Khulna Metropolitan City and Khulna District Police Stations for the past three months. He said that in the last 3 months, a total of 56 cases were registered in the metropolis. And a total of 70 cases were registered in the police stations. The chief guest at the meeting, Md. Rafiqul Islam, said, "I have been enriched a lot by the discussions of the learned lawyers and have learned many unknown things. Most of the sexual abuse that occurs in our families is committed by family members. He requested on behalf of his ministry that everyone should be health conscious, including wearing masks, to combat the effects of Corona in the current situation. The chairman thanked everyone present and declared the meeting closed.
