Today 11/10/2022 on the occasion of National No Tobacco Week, a rally and discussion meeting was organized by NICE Foundation in Aranghata village of Digholia Upazila. The said meeting was chaired by Md Babluzzaman. Rabeya Sultana, Program Director, NICE Foundation, Molla Sawkat Hossen , NICE Foundation were present in the meeting.Md Babluzzaman said, "161,000 people die every year due to tobacco use and 400,000 people are crippled. And according to the World Health Organization, 35.3 percent of the elderly population in the country are using tobacco. He also said, "Our The objective of the discussion is to create awareness about tobacco use.”Rabeya Sultana said, "Currently, women are also consuming tobacco. For example: Gul, Zorda and cigarettes. They are affected by various diseases including cancer, stroke, and breast cancer."Molla Sawkat Hossen said, “About 3 lakh people die of heart attack every year in our country. Out of which 24% is accounted for by tobacco.” He further said, “On the anti-tobacco week, let's make everyone aware of the harmful aspects of tobacco.” Zahidul Islam, Rashedul Islam, Afsana Mou, Reshma Khatun, Meghla Sheel and many others were also present in the discussion meeting.
