International Mother Language Day was celebrated today on 21st February 2023 at Nice Shishu Shiksha Kendra in Aranghata village of Dighlia upazila of Khulna district. The day is observed through rallies and discussions. M.Mujibur Rahman, executive director of Nice Foundation, was present at the event. He started the program by offering flowers at the memorial in memory of the martyrs. Then all the students offered flowers. Then the rally started from Nice Shishu Shiksha Kendra to Aranghata Bazar. A discussion meeting was held at the end of the rally. M.Mujibur Rahman, Executive Director of Sabha Nice Foundation, said, "On February 21, 1952, language martyrs left a great and rare legacy to the nation. On this day in 1952, people from all walks of life, including the students and youth of Bengal, came down on the streets, ignoring Article 144 of the ruling party and administration of that time, to demand that Bengali be made the state language. Due to Durbar's movement to establish the mother language, the Pakistani rulers were restrained. On that day (February 21), Salam, Jabbar, Rafiq, Shafiq and Barkat were martyred when the police opened fire on the students' procession. To commemorate their contribution, we Bengali nation observe this day with respect every year." The said meeting was also attended by Md. Babluzzaman, Md. Zahidul Islam, Md. Rashedul Islam, Md.
